Hello, Bettie. It is good to be useful and to know what the Lord's plans for older woman are. I am coping with chronic pain and other problems. I pray that my health will improve and that I will be of use to others again, soon.

I am wondering how your husband is doing? My husband had the biopsy when his PSA started going up and found out he does have cancer (an aggressive one, too!). He had a prostatectomy and has been implanted with a Zoladex pellet twice. Recently, he went back for a checkup and his PSA went down to .02! I am praying that he long outlives his prognosis of 2 to 10 years!

I enjoyed reading this post, Mrs. Need, and I love that you were encouraged by the Scriptures.

My own mother is 62 years old, and I am so thankful that earlier this year we moved just 10 minutes away from her (and also Dad). It is such a blessing that she is able to be a regular part of our life. Our five children always look forward to seeing her.

I pray that you will be blessed as you draw nearer to the Lord! And I know that you have been a blessing to so many young ladies and younger mothers. You have made such a difference already in your life, and I know you will be blessed for that and hear "Well done, good and faithful servant!"

What an encouraging post Grammie! Praise God God is all we need and He provides for us always even when prayers are not verbally said to Him He still knows the need. I miss you all and I am praying for you and Grampa and your family!

This is beautifully written!

Our five children have all been born at home with a midwife in attendance, and I have been so thankful for their births. Things haven't always gone perfectly or romantically or pain-free :), but I still loved being at home in my own room with my children asleep in their rooms down the hall, and I loved the fact that my midwives encouraged me to give birth in the way that was most comfortable for me.

May the Lord bless you as you follow His plan for your life, Bethany!

I am a man in my mid 30s who became a follower of Jesus Christ over the past 2 years and I have only just discovered all of these kinds of websites in the past few days and it is so mind-blowing. I had no idea there were any women left in the USA (is this in the USA?) who even want husbands at all and I had completley given up.

I have found a tremendous number of websites and books encouraging single women and helping them know how to be functional and healthy and preparing and so on while single and waiting to find a husband. I would love to know if there is anything like this for men as I would like to learn and implement everything I may so I can at least try to live a more productive and Godly life while I am still single.

I am also curious where all of these women are who want husbands and children. Most of the women I meet in and out of church behave as if they either mistrust, disdain, or are indifferent towards men and I have utterly lost hope for a family or children myself and could not be much more discouraged or frustrated. My impression has been that we can choose between celibate singleness or sexual immorality these days. I have been to many churches in four states and have never once heard marriage or child bearing encouraged at all.

It is indeed rare to be encouraged to have more children, even in our families (my husband's and mine). We have 4 children, our youngest is 2 and I know that many family members would look at us like we're crazy if we even mention having more. Unfortunately through all this negative thinking by others my husband would rather not have any more. I know if we had family members who would have encouraged us in having more we would have. I am sad to think I may not have anymore children, so I'm just trusting in the Lord, that He will change the hearts of my husband and those around us. Thank you for your post, and for all you ladies that encourage moms to have more.

Wow Bettie I see this all around me in the church. I make it my God given duty to befriend young mothers and offer them encourage. Even encouraging them to let God control their womb. I had one young lady tell me that I was the only older women who's ever encouraged her to have more children.

Thank you, Mrs. Need, for this encouraging thought! With five young children I often despair of completing any of my projects! That's a great idea to make a list of things that can be done in 5 or 10 minutes--I love checking items off of a list! I'll have to try that. :)
